Much is being said and written about the King of Pop right now. I was as surprised as anyone when I heard the news today. The last 15 years of his life is not something I want to focus on. My memory of him is connected to my childhood when I first heard his music and saw him dance. Back in the Soviet Union we knew the changes were quickly coming when we would hear Jackson music on the radio or see it on TV. Even today I occasionally play Thriller album on my iPod.

Monday after Pride weekend.
I’ve never had a hangover in my life but this is the closest I’ve come. I was out til 5am and up at 9 three days in a row, so I was so tired that I kept forgetting to open my eyes as I walked to work.
I didn’t have a headache, light or sound sensitivity persay…..but I did have a weird bout of synesthesia….Where I was looking at things and the colours seemed to make sounds. Like light glowed in this way that bells hum. And things I looked at seemed to be throbbing, squiggling, in a way that made me feel like I was hearing them call out to me. Hard to explain, or really even understand as I remember it.
I felt really ill all day, like everything I was taking in was confusing my senses and making me dizzy. I couldn’t think or talk. I spent most of the morning misfiling bankruptcy filings, and most of the afternoon cleaning up the mess I made.
I listened to Spring Awakening three times in a row on my ipod, and that was just fine, except the songs are out of order on my ipod and that gets a little weird.
And then I started my period.
Needless to say, I was not feeling my 365. So hear is my throbbing swollen ovary-land. This song does double-duty for me: 1) Its underlying track is “True” by Spandau Ballet, one of my favorite favorite songs from childhood; and 2) it reminds me of high school–it came out in fall of 1991, start of my freshman year.
A few years ago, I was at the gym stretching when it came on the stero there; I just layed down and soaked it in. So cheesy, so delightful. I probably went home and downloaded it that night. It’s one of the songs that, when my ipod shuffles to it, I always always smile. Had to put it in my jukebox, and since there’s a pool here in Singapore, it was the time to do it!
